Financial Sponsorship
My alma mater, Tunku Abdul Rahman College (commonly known as TARc) , having a donation drive to build an iconic " Student Centre " by the Alumni at main campus of Kuala Lumpur. SAS Alumni Society ( School of Art & Science Alumni Society ) is one of the society among different school alumni society who connected with alma mater in one way or the other.
In support of the donation drive, SAS Alumni Society has organised 'Motor Treasure Hunt ' on last Saturday 12 Mar 2011. Journey from KL main campus to branch campus in Kampar,Perak.
Being an exco member of SAS Alumni Society , i have been assigned to take care of sponsorship. Our sponsorship request were in cash contribution for various prizes, or others cash in kind such as products for goody bags packing.
In process of sponsorship request from our targeted personal or corporation, overall 80% of success rate . I felt touch with some alumni’s action towards our request and words of encouragement . Despite their generosity , they appreciated committee members' contribution towards society towards college need , as committee members have to spend time beyond ordinary career and family schedule .
While collected cheque from Bobby , cheque prepared and hand over to me , he said ’while college or society need money , who else to ask ? chances are you have to ask us who graduated from college . ….Sorry for not able to participate in this event, i have visitor this weekend ‘.
While over the phone conversation with Woo, I asked ‘ can we put you as 3rd prize sponsor and have your name in mock cheque presentation ?’ , Woo said ‘ doesn’t matter, you all decide , just use this money for activities need ‘
While collected hampers from Khoo , he expressed ‘ sorry I don’t have time to joint you all, but if you need any help , just give me a call , I will do my best ‘
Not only that, beside SAS alumni’s contribution , some of alumni from SOT & SBS , and friends extended their assistant providing others goodies & prizes. On behalf of organising committee , our heartfelt thanks to Gerald, Bobby, Woo, Mark, Khoo, Chia, Tracy, TMLee, Lam, Desmond, Cheng, Tai, KE , Foo, Ang, TanBT, Steven , Chong ,Patrick & Regal Marketing. In sponsorship request , I thanks my childhood friend Cherry from electronic company , offer college representative to come in to their engineering department, to check on the equipment which is suitable for course need.
With your success in career, your business, all of you have demonstrated your kindness towards alma mater, towards TarC .
In financial education , I used to tell younger generation have this in mind :
10%: Financial Freedom Account
20% : Long Term Saving for spending
55% : Necessity
10%: Play/ Entertainment
5%: Give
Yes, in our life, there’s always a portion that we can give , we can donate to help the needy . The more we give , the more we are blessed.
